Monument of the 31st `Iron` Silistra Regiment

This monument in Silistra is devoted to the heroism of the members of 31st Infantry Regiment during the II World War. The regiment was founded immediately after the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule. In the beginning it was based in Varna but in 1904 was moved to Silistra. The regiment participated in the Second World war on the strength of 12th Infantry Division of the First Bulgarian Army, and it earned the name "iron" during the battles near Drava, Mur and village Yastrebtsi.
